As avid bird watchers have known for a long
time, Alaska is home to one of the most abundant, diverse, and fascinating collections
of birds in the world. From Prince William Sound to the Inside Passage, hundreds
of species can be observed in one of the most pristine wilderness settings on the
globe.
An Alaska birding cruise is the ideal means of bird
watching in Alaska. The waterways which cut across the state harbor many unique species
of birds. Small boat cruises are perfect for Alaska bird watching. The great maneuverability
of small boats allows access to even the most remote Alaska bird watching locations.
The added capability of making trips to shore really enhances the birding cruise
experience.
The Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival is the
ideal destination for an Alaska bird watching vacation. Alaska 's oldest such festival,
the Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival is a three day festival centered around
the largest gathering of shorebirds in the world. Each May, as many as five million
shorebirds fill the tidal flats of Copper River Delta, a resting point on their annual
spring migration. Alaska bird watching is a uniquely exciting activity.
Bird watching is of course not the only activity that
will be available on an Alaska bird watching vacation. Kayaking, whale watching,
fishing, glacier exploration, and hiking are all available for your pleasure. We'll
be happy to incorporate any of these activities into your birding cruise, optimizing
the precious time you'll have to share with us in Alaska.
